Born in Edmonton, Alberta, David Wing's early artistic interests did not include photography. It was only after a high school classmate introduced him to a film camera that his love of photography flourished leading him to graduate from the Langara Photography Program (in Vancouver) in 1979. David worked for many years in the photofinishing industry in Vancouver but eventually decided to switch careers though always maintaining a strong interest in photography.
